Gothy Quick Rules: By joining this server you acknowledge that you will abide by these rules. Understand that this list does not constitute a full set of rules. This server operates on a "Three strikes" policy. Breaking any one of the rules may incur a warn/mute, once a member accrues three warns/mutes the member will be kicked or banned from the server.
No spamming. Do not type in ALL CAPS, do NOT spam gifs, especially in general.
Elaboration: This rule is about maintaining a readable and orderly chat. Spamming, whether with repetitive messages, excessive GIFs, or all caps, clutters the conversation, makes it difficult for others to follow, and can be seen as disruptive or attention-seeking. It ensures that the main chat channel remains a place for genuine conversation rather than a chaotic stream of non-communicative content.
Clearly spoiler/avoid posting (if possible) photosensitive media, this includes GIFs that is flashing etc.
Elaboration: This is a safety and accessibility rule. Flashing images and GIFs can trigger seizures in people with epilepsy and cause discomfort or headaches for others. Requiring users to use spoiler tags or avoid such content entirely is a basic form of consideration for the health and well-being of all server members.
No bashing or heated arguments with members.
Elaboration: This rule is about conflict resolution and fostering a friendly atmosphere. It discourages personal attacks, name-calling, and prolonged, aggressive debates. The server aims to be a safe and welcoming space, and personal feuds can quickly make others uncomfortable and ruin the server's vibe.
No adult/NSFW (18+) content, mentions of drugs or alcohol, unless in a specified channel. Absolutely no self-harm.
Elaboration: This is a safety and content moderation rule. By prohibiting adult and sensitive content in general channels, the server can cater to a wider age range and avoid making some members uncomfortable. The specific mention of self-harm content is a strict safety measure to protect vulnerable individuals and avoid triggering discussions.
No hate speech or prejudice. (e.g. Racism, sexism/misogyny, homophobia, xenophobia, transphobia, etc - including no objectification of Goth women and other women or men) Ideologies/groups that Gothy does NOT support includes, but is not limited to: MGTOW, White nationalism, neo-nazism, fascism, tankies, genocide deniers, etc.

No content of abuse of vulnerable populations.

No excessive cursing.
Elaboration: This rule is about maintaining a civil and polite tone. While some cursing may be tolerated, excessive use can be seen as aggressive, rude, or unprofessional. It's a way of setting a general standard for the server's conversational style.
No advertising other sites/discord servers (Permission must be requested from Staff).
Elaboration: This rule prevents the server from becoming a platform for self-promotion or being flooded with links to other communities. It ensures that the server's channels remain focused on the server's own community and content. Requiring staff permission allows for exceptions for collaborations or relevant announcements while maintaining control over the flow of external links.
Do not send unsolicited DMs/friend requests to members.
Elaboration: This is a crucial privacy and safety rule. It protects members from unwanted contact, harassment, or spam in their private messages. It respects personal boundaries and puts the responsibility on users to get permission before initiating private conversations.
No offensive names. All names must be easily taggable.
Elaboration: This is a basic rule of order. Offensive names can violate the server's "no hate speech" policy and make other members uncomfortable. Requiring "taggable" names ensures that people can be easily mentioned in conversations, which is a practical necessity for Discord.
No doxxing.
Elaboration: This is a fundamental safety and privacy rule. Doxxing (revealing a person's private, identifying information) is a serious form of harassment and is illegal in many places. The rule explicitly prohibits this dangerous behavior to protect the real-world safety of server members.
This is an international server, so please keep all communication in English.
Elaboration: This is a practical rule for communication. By having a single language for the general chat, the server ensures that all members, regardless of their native language, can understand and participate in the conversation. This fosters a more inclusive and cohesive community.
Do not use the @everyone / @Here. Do not spam @’ing members.
Elaboration: This is a notification and politeness rule. The
@everyoneand@heretags send a notification to every member of the server, which can be disruptive. Similarly, spamming mentions to a specific member can be annoying. This rule prevents users from causing unnecessary notifications and ensures the@everyoneand@heretags are reserved for staff-only use for important announcements.
Repeated complaints from several members will lead to administrative action and may reflect on whoever referred you to Gothy.
Elaboration: This rule is about personal responsibility and accountability. It's a signal to members that their behavior is noticed by the community, not just staff. The part about the referrer is a unique measure that encourages members to only invite people they can vouch for, which helps maintain the quality of the community.
Do not argue with staff. Decisions are final, trying to go around rules etc, will result in a warning.

At all times try to use common sense and good judgment for any action you're about to take.

Voice Chat/Goffbot - Specific Rules:
No VC surfing or switching channels repeatedly.
Elaboration: This rule is about stability and politeness in voice channels. Constantly joining and leaving a channel can be disruptive with the notification pings. It's a simple rule to maintain a consistent environment in the voice chats.
Keep background noise to a min.
Elaboration: This is a courtesy rule. Excessive background noise (e.g., loud music, conversations, chewing) makes it difficult for others to hear and participate. It ensures that voice channels are a place for clear communication.
You will be removed if sound quality is very poor to others.
Elaboration: This is a pragmatic rule. If a member's microphone is causing static, feedback, or other severe sound issues, it's disruptive to everyone else in the channel. Removing the user is a quick solution to restore the quality of the voice chat.
Your presence in this server constitutes agreement for any information regarding your account (including username, status, and messages) to be processed and logged by our bot(s) in perpetuity.
